Earlier this week, we shared episodes one, two, three, and four of the documentary series created about the Mystery Coffee Vacation, which found 24 baristas spending a week at the lauded coffee farm Café Tío Conejo in Caldas, Colombia. The Mystery Coffee Vacation was the grand prize for each of these coffee professionals for winning one of The Barista League’s competitions in 2023 and 2024. The all-expenses-paid adventure placed the travelers, who hailed from 10 different countries, in the gracious hands of the family that owns Café Tío Conejo, who dedicated themselves to teaching the baristas everything there is to know about growing, processing, and producing exceptional coffee.
When your classroom is a coffee farm, learning is extra fun, and what fun these baristas had. They started each day waking up on the farm, enjoying an enormous breakfast of fresh fruits, farm-grown eggs, and more, which was followed by brewing demonstrations by local baristas, sensory exercises such as tasting and comparing a variety of fruits grown on the farm, harvesting coffee, taking part in exciting challenges, eating more wonderful food, and partying late into the night. It sounds like something The Barista League would dream up, all right!
